This weekend the kids and I decided to try to write a spine poem using the books in our home library. We chose books from our shelves that we could use in a bunny themed poem. Building a spine poem is harder than it looks. Thankfully, we have a pretty large home library filled with plenty of children's books. I think Peter Rabbit would approve of our poem.

Watch Me Go!
Up, Down, and Around
Quiet in the Garden
Day is Done
Time for Bed
How Do You Say Goodnight?
Writing spine poetry is such a fun, brain-stretching activity. Try it sometime!

What a clever idea!
I used to teach English in middle school, and I have never heard of this. I love it! Your poem is great. Such a neat idea.
What a fun idea! I agree ... your poem is great :) I'll have to share this idea with my two girls!
Love it! Doing it!
This is a cute idea. I wonder if my Little J would enjoy this. We'll have to try!
I've never heard of this exercise, but I like how your poem turned out. Very creative.
Hi! Thanks for stopping by my blog! Yes, I would recommend Pippi for a read aloud. The chapters are fairly short and easy to read and Pippi's adventures are funny.

I love your blog and am now your newest follower! I'm so excited to read more. I wrote "The Daddy Mountain" review, which is how I found you. Just wanted to let you know your safe in terms of a mommy mountain. Mommy "freaks out" at the end of the book :)

I had never encountered this idea either, but I love it! I'm looking across the room at my picture book shelf, wondering what sort of a poem I could come up with! Thanks for this!
