Blogging with Integrity

Since BlogHer '09, I took a bit of time to step away from my blog. After the sessions and whirlwind, I was left with lots of questions and thoughts to ponder. One of the many things I learned while there is that it is important to have a clear direction of where I want to go with my blog and blog posts.

Brimful Curiosities started out as a way to share information mainly about children's books but also on a variety of items I use as a parent and mother. I think I've done a pretty good job at staying within these boundaries. Each blog post takes a considerable amount of time to write. I rarely use pre-written write-ups in my review posts; they are my words, my thoughts. I always try to include a disclosure statement of some form in my review. Many of the books and items I review have been sent to me for consideration by various publishing companies or PR firms. However, I strive not to let anything taint my reviews and work hard to write honest, thoughtful and helpful posts. I wish I had more time to review all the superb children's books available. So many deserve the attention.

If you have taken the time to read my posts, hopefully you've noticed that I very much value honesty and clarity. Even though a full disclosure policy has been posted on my blog from the beginning, I recently signed the Blog with Integrity pledge.

One of my main goals in blogging is to help promote literacy and early reading and learning skills. I have donated several books as well as products that I have reviewed to public libraries and charities in our area and will continue to do so. And I promise to continue blogging with integrity. Thanks so much for your continued readership. I do enjoy all comments and hope that my blog offers something of value to my readers.

I think readers can pretty much discern integrity. And you have always been forthright on your blog, whether you sign a pledge or not!

It is easy to tell that you blog with integrity. You have a purpose and an honor code that is evident even without signing a pledge. I have known that from the first day I started following your blog and it is what brings me back so often. I praise your goal of promoting literacy! Thanks for this post as it will make me stand back and try and remember what it was I wanted when I first began to blog! I am making adjustments that I hope will be in place full time by the end of the summer to help me get back to my original goals. Thank you for your blog!

It's been crystal clear to me as a reader that you blog with integrity, but I really do appreciate this post as well. On this topic, I don't think you can overdo it. Good luck continuing on, and thanks for the post!
