In writing my review for the Let’s Get Ready Series, I described one page listing all the colors. I always get mixed up when I am trying to write the word Grey/Gray. I really don't remember which way they taught me at school. The Let's Get Ready series uses the spelling "Gray." So what is up with this word?
There are many, many blog posts dedicated to the Grey/Gray topic. I like this one by Bernie Zimmerman. His post pops up first in a Google search for "Gray Grey Spelling." http://www.bernzilla.com/item.php?id=232. Here's a Wikipedia post: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gray_(color).
Guess it comes down to whether or not you prefer using British or American English. Personally, I like grey, which it the British form. The reason? Well, the grey spelling seems to fit the word better, a kind of blah, dreary color. For some reason, the spelling gray just seems too happy to me, maybe because it contains the letter "a" like the word happy. Which way do you prefer?
Here's a great educational printable for kids on the topic:
Anyway, I'm glad that even though it is cold today it isn't grey outside. I'm so happy to see the sun! And, I have some happy news.
