Wordless Wednesday - Oath of Office and A New Era

My children as they watch their first presidential inauguration and Barack Obama taking the Oath of Office as he becomes the 44th President of the United States of America.

"What is required of us now is a new era of responsibility — a recognition, on the part of every American, that we have duties to ourselves, our nation, and the world, duties that we do not grudgingly accept but rather seize gladly, firm in the knowledge that there is nothing so satisfying to the spirit, so defining of our character, than giving our all to a difficult task."
- President Barack Obama, Inaugural Address, January, 20th, 2009

What a great picture. I don't think my kids really "got" the significance of the day but think that's a good thing. Now anyone can truly be president.

Love the picture. It was an amazing day to witness. My kids watched at school and came home so excited to tell me about all the details.

That will be a great picture to show them when they are older and will understand the significance!

BTW, your kids look to be about the same age as mine! My daughter is 3 and my son is 1 (13 mos.) I love your girl's hair!

We actually stopped packing. The movers also stopped and we watched the speech.
That day will always be memorable.

What a great photo of the kids, truly capturing a moment in history.

I wish I had been home to watch it with mine - but I caught the end of the oath in the waiting room, so at least I didn't miss it completely!

Have a great day!
