The Beginner's Guide to Bears - Book Review

"You need a bear and a bear needs you. Together you'll share a friendship that's true." - The Beginner's Guide to Bears by Gillian Shields
Teddy bear picnics and bear hunts are common activities in our home, complete with pretend caves and real picnic fare. Its really all about the BEARS! How many stuffed bears can one little person have? I think my daughter is attempting to set the world record. If you have a bear fan in your house, then you need The Beginner's Guide to Bears by Gillian Shields. There are so many things to do and share with your very favorite bear and the book does a pretty good job covering it all. From making a frosty snow bear and having picnics with sweets, to sharing bedtime stories and big, cozy bear hugs, the book encourages everyone to spend some time playing with their own teddy bear. Short, rhyming verses in large type font on each page make this book perfect for toddlers and preschoolers. Sebastien Braun's illustrations are charming, fuzzy-looking and sweet, exactly what you'd expect in a teddy bear book. Complete with a padded hardcover and the largest peek-a-boo mirror I've ever seen, the picture book would make a great gift for all those who love to snuggle with their favorite bear!
